Touch Scientific Tear MicroAssays

The New One-Step-Assay »»»

Using the disposable dropper,
add 2-3 drops of the diluted tear to the cartridge...

...and just walk away!

The M9 reflectance photometer prints out the results in a matter of minutes.

««« The Original Lactoferrin Assay

1) Using a calibrated microcapillary tube, carefully introduce 2 uls of the diluted tear to a test membrane.
2) Using a calibrated microcapillary tube, carefully introduce 2 uls of control solution to a test membrane.
3) Add a drop of conjugate solution...and wait 1 min.
4) Add a drop of wash solution...
5) Add a 2nd drop of wash solution...
6) Add a 3rd drop of wash solution...
7) Add a drop of TMB substrate solution.

The M9 reflectance photometer prints out the results in a few minutes.

Lactoferrin - an in vitro diagnostic device for the measurement of lactoferrin in human tears, to assess lacrimal gland function as an aid in the diagnosis of keratoconjunctivits sicca (KCS).

This test is FDA approved for in vitro diagnosis, and has a reimbursable CPT code.  It is the confirmatory assay for the differentiation of aqueous-deficient dry eye from evaporative dry eye.

IgE - an in vitro diagnostic device for the measurement of IgE in human tears, to assess the allergic component of ocular inflammation.

This test is FDA approved for in vitro diagnosis, and has a reimbursable CPT code.

Tear Clearance Assay - TCR is an in vitro diagnostic device used to determine the in situ turnover rate at which fluorescein is cleared from the tear film.

This test is currently in clinical trials to determine diagnostic utility.

Chlamydia - an in vitro diagnostic device for the detection of antibody to Chlamydia trachomatis in human tears, to assess the risk of possible inclusion conjunctivitis or trachoma.

This test is currently in final development, with clinical trials to begin shortly.

MicroGram™ Assay - an in vitro diagnostic device for the detection of Gram positive and/or Gram negative antigens, to assess the involvement of bacteria in ocular inflammation.

This test is currently in final development, with clinical trials to begin shortly.

HIV - an in vitro diagnostic device for the detection of antibody to Human Immunodeficieny Virus in human tears, to differentiate acquired from active immunoglobulin levels in pediatric patients.

This test is currently planned for future development.

LDH - an in vitro diagnostic device for the measurement of lactate dehydrogenase isoenzymes in human tears, to assess the level of tissue damage in ocular hypoxia.

This test is currently planned for future development.

Adenovirus - an in vitro diagnostic device for the detection of adenovirus antigens in human tears, to determine the presence of adenovirus in acute ocular inflammation.

This test has been developed and is currently waiting for appropriate assignment.

HSV - an in vitro diagnostic device for the detection of herpes simplex virus in human tears, to determine the presence of HSV in ocular inflammation.

This test is currently planned for future development.
